Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.
The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. Typical hours are 6 AMβ9 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Astoria is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Astoria follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I love the $2 coffee and buttered roll deal. With that said, the last 4 times I've come you have been completely out of either coffee or buttered rolls. The staff is very polite about it, but waiting around 5 or 10 minutes for butter to be spread on a roll or coffee to finish brewing isn't an option when trying to catch a subway that leaves in 3 or 5 minutes. If this continues I will be unable to continue patronizing a bakery that cannot deliver on a deal they advertise on their front door. Is the deal available or not?! I make a choice to give you my business on a near daily basis (and usually tip), but am now realizing McDonald's is a mere 300 feet away and sells any size coffee for a buck. I'd much rather support a small business, so please stop pushing your regulars away with these shenanigans .

Though I used to live near here, I never visited until my parents came to visit a few days ago. My mom and I split a slice of broccoli and garlic focaccia bread, my dad got a an apple spice loaf, and both of them split some chocolate dipped raspberry sandwich cookies. Everything was greatβ-especially the focaccia. This place is a neighborhood institution for a reason!

A lovely old school Italian bakery with great vibes and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Their pizza was recommended to us by an elderly Italian neighbor so we knew it had to be good. We got a grandma slice, a Sicilian slice, and 4 garlic knots. The pizza was exceptional. Buttery, thick crust, good quality toppings. The garlic knots were coated in garlic and oil and totally addictive. I could have eaten 10 more. We also tried the chocolate covered cannoli- their cannoli cream is light and almost had a whipped texture, and was slightly tangy, and not too sweet. We loved it. The whole time we were treated like VIP guests. It made us feel really good and appreciated. We cannot wait to visit again!

Friendly staff. Arabia was very helpful to me, thank you. The pizza was delicious. Flavorful sauce & soft dough. This place is a neighborbood staple.

Everything about this place is nice. When you walk in you get this old school NYC greeting. They allow you to shop the case and answer any questions you have. The food samples are very delicious. I samples vanilla and chocolate cookies but I listened to the many customers in the store (mostly above 60 on my visit) telling me what cookies to try and their favorites. It appears that Rose and Joe has touched the little pastry hearts of the community. The pastry caseβimmaculate, nice fresh made pies, cookies, and they do have some commercial items for sale. Highly recommend for the old school New York vibe. So why the 1-star? Well Iβm a pastry chef and no fool I believe thereβs a mix of commercial bought and store-made to complete the inventory (very suspicious as Iβve seen other very similar products in competing shops (and at the Serafina at the Italian Center in Stamford, CT) thereβs a bulk order (or distributor) bakery for these little Italian specialties. Until I see otherwise, my opinion remains. These companies have a specific taste profile. I didnβt see any believable kitchen resources that would lead me to believe these products are made onsite.
